David Oakley

In this episode, I sit down with the President and Creative Director at BooneOakley, David Oakley. Boone Oakley is a highly successful advertising agency headquartered right here in Charlotte. Their motto: We give ambitious brands an unfair advantage.

David shares the story of how the agency started with what was seemingly one of the biggest blunders in advertising history. A “blunder” that actually got their first client coverage on nearly every major news outlet in the U.S.

We talk about David’s career prior to opening his own shop, the process of self-publishing two books, the supreme value of storytelling in marketing, and speaking of marketing – David shares the details of a hilarious and embarrassing encounter that involved Malcolm Gladwell and Seth Godin. Yeah, seriously… you’ll just have to listen so stay with me.
